Keith Douglas Hampson

Professor Keith Hampson established and is CEO of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc), a unique collaboration in construction supply chain research, with A$2.3 million annual investment from 40 business, state government and research partners across Australia.

Keith is a civil engineer and project manager with more than 40 years of industry, government and research leadership. He is committed to building a more internationally competitive Australian industry by promoting improved collaboration, applied technology and innovative practices.

With prior multidisciplinary industry experience in planning, design, construction and maintenance, Keith successfully completed an internationally leading PhD at Stanford University. Since then, his energy and inclusive leadership brought together business, government policymakers, researchers and educators to transform the construction industry through research into practice.

He is recognised globally for his insightful leadership and award-winning collaborative model, translating research into practice: for 25 years he has consistently been at the helm of translational research for a traditionally non-research focused industry – the built environment – and creating organisations that have delivered value for industry. Keith is lauded for his outstanding contributions at the interface of research and industry, and education - driving cultural change to capture the value of academics working with industry.

Throughout his career, he has led industry-focused research teams that have secured approximately A$70 million in competitive and industry R&D funding.

Keith is President of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB). He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (FTSE), Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD). He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) and an MBA from QUT, and a PhD from Stanford University.

Keith has authored more than 200 publications, delivered on millions of dollars in industry research and mentored future leaders globally.
