Hui Tong Chua

Professor Hui Tong Chua is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, an Engineering Executive, and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (UK). He is the Head of Department of Chemical Engineering at The University of Western Australia (UWA).

His work has helped establish and assisted companies in developing technologies, examples include Hazer TM, the fourth public listed spinoff company of The University of Western Australia (ASX:HZR, market capital: $97.57M, accessed 28 th June 2022). He is a Non-Executive Director of Good Water Energy Ltd., an Australian Geothermal Energy company spearheading baseload geothermal energy for green hydrogen production. He is presently fostering Ablano TM Pty. Ltd., a UWA start-up company in synthesising boron nitride nano onions as a super lubricant for machinery.

Prof Chua has received numerous awards receiving Commendation Awards, Awards for Teaching Excellence and the AIRAH Excellence Award in HVAC&R Research to just name a few.

He has generated 22 granted patents and 47 pending patents over 8 patent families. Among which, 5 patent families have been successfully licensed including 16 granted patents and 47 pending patents. He has a total of 2 books, 1 book chapter, 95 peer reviewed journal articles, 21 peer reviewed conference papers, and a h-index of 33. Six pieces of his work are among the top 1% (citations) in Engineering.

Prof Chua’s extensive works to the betterment of the engineering community is obvious. He is a leader that is highly respected. He drives works that provides sizable benefit to the community and to the development of young engineers for the future.
